FIC 2026 Recap: Foodmate Showcases Gelatin and Multi-Ingredient Solutions in Shanghai

On March 19, the 29th Food Ingredients China (FIC 2026) successfully concluded at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Foodmate, in partnership with Foodchem, presented a wide range of ingredient solutions at Booth 51H50 & 51J51, including gelatin, instant gelatin, carrageenan, collagen, collagen peptides and more. During the three-day event, the booth attracted professionals from the food & beverage, nutraceutical, and related industries for in-depth discussions.

As a professional gelatin manufacturer with an annual production capacity exceeding 6,000 tons, Foodmate continues to provide reliable and customized gelatin solutions for global partners across multiple applications.

Gummy Tasting Area: Experiencing Texture Through Application

To better demonstrate the performance of hydrocolloids in gummy applications, two types of gummy samples were presented at the booth.

  • Fruit Flavor Gummies

The fruity gummies on display were developed by using our FoodGel™ BS25-30A gelatin. Designed for classic chewy textures, this model offers excellent elasticity and structural strength, delivering a consistent bite and clear texture profile.

The FoodGel™ series gelatin, covering 100–280 Bloom g, allows manufacturers to tailor texture, firmness, and processing performance according to specific product needs.

  • Creatine Gummies for Sports Nutrition

Another highlight was the creatine gummy application, which has gained increasing attention in recent years.

By utilizing a carrageenan-based system, this solution helps maintain structural stability while improving mouthfeel, offering an innovative dosage format for sports nutrition products. Many visitors showed strong interest after tasting and further discussed formulation possibilities with the team.

Technical Exchange at the Booth: From Formulation to Solutions

The technical consultation area remained highly active throughout the exhibition. R&D specialists from Foodmate’s Jiujiang facility engaged with visitors on formulation challenges and process optimization across different applications.

In addition to confectionery, softgel solutions also attracted significant attention from nutraceutical manufacturers. Discussions focused on key factors such as capsule shell stability, formulation compatibility, and processing efficiency. Based on different formulation needs, the team introduced several CapGel™ series gelatin, including:

  • BS16-35A for standard oil-based softgels
  • BS18-35A for standard oils & suspensions fillings
  • BS18-40A for standard oils, suspensions and slightly viscous fill materials
  • Other BS Series, BB Series (bovine bone gelatin) & fish gelatin.

These solutions demonstrate Foodmate’s ability as a gelatin manufacturer to support diverse softgel production needs with consistent quality and performance.

Throughout the three days, similar technical discussions took place across applications ranging from food to nutraceuticals, providing visitors with practical and targeted recommendations.

Booth Highlights: Mascot and Interactive Experience

During the exhibition, Foodmate’s mascot became a popular feature for photos and interactions. Together with limited-edition Shanghai-themed giveaways, it helped create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere at the booth. These interactions encouraged more visitors to stop by, explore the product portfolio, and learn about various application solutions in a more approachable way.

New Product & Technology Seminar: Focus on Gelatin Innovation

On the morning of March 19, Foodmate hosted a technical seminar titled

Innovative Applications and Future Development of Gelatin and Specialty Gelatins

The session covered:

  • Process optimization and application adaptation of standard gelatin
  • Efficiency advantages of instant gelatin
  • Application potential of cold-soluble gelatin in low-temperature foods

A key highlight was InstantGel™ SR02, an instant gelatin that eliminates the need for traditional pre-soaking and heating. It can disperse and dissolve rapidly in room-temperature water and quickly form a stable gel structure, offering improved efficiency for manufacturers.

Following the presentation, attendees engaged in further discussions on specific applications and product selection.

Three Days, New Opportunities Ahead

Throughout the exhibition, visitors came with diverse needs—from new product development challenges to a deeper understanding of gelatin applications.

Beyond gelatin, Foodmate also showcased a comprehensive portfolio including instant gelatin, carrageenan, collagen, and collagen peptides, which are widely used in:

  • Softgels
  • Confectionery
  • Dairy products
  • Meat products
  • Jelly & pudding
  • Pet food
  • Bakery
  • Nutritional and functional products
